Trail Names Discussion - Landscape Dept is running this topic by the desk of the Rossmoor General Manager. Will report outcome when received.

A Membership Policy Committee is in the process of being organized. Goal is to establish an Incident Report review and implementation process based on policy the Committee proposes and Board approves. Individual hikers will be counseled when their number of incidents exceeds safety guidelines for their Hiking Group and/or Club membership. Committee will consist of Reps, Hike Leadership Coordinator and interested Club members.

Elliot will send out an email suggesting a date/time/location.

Trails Club was represented at the Rossmoor Club Fair on May 25th. Thanks to Sherri Dillard and Angela Lusk along with others for manning the busy table, sharing info with potential new members and how to sign up.

Harriet Schwartz purchased new, folding first aid kits for the Club with sections to better organize and label items.

Molly plans to have a reminder sent out week prior to all who are registered, reminding them of the timing (Registration at 6:30, Dinner at 7), as well as to remind them to BYO Booze and glass.

Molly is still seeking volunteers to help on the day of the party (Set up, registration, clean up), and also looking for someone who is willing to go to Costco and pick up popsicles.

The 51 new Trails Club members who joined from March 1 - June 30 are invited to attend a gathering at 7:00 p.m. in the Club Room at Creekside. Anne Squire will help them to become comfortable with using the website; Harriet Schwartz will provide advice on hiking safely with proper preparation and on how to choose trails and prepare to lead hikes.

We especially want to connect with Amblers: 30 of the 51 new members chose the Ambler group.

Trial adoption of new "texting" option in Wild Apricot - Anne Squire

Webmaster could create text campaigns and send message(s) out to all members who had previously opted in to receive Club texts.

Expenses would be $36 one time application fee

$6 per month for dedicated phone line

$0.04 per member per message (approximately)

Texting option would be used solely for emergency or timely messages.

(e.g. cancelled Club wide events, membership expiration notifications, etc)

Motion was proposed and approved with caveat that Webmaster report back to Board on # of adoptions, usage statistics, actual costs, member feedback.

feedback (pro/con) and security measures.

Nominating Committee for open Board positions (VP, Secretary) will be formed in July, headed up by Sherri Dillard.

MEMBERS FORUM:

Diddo Clark shared sighting and location info on rare clarkia flower.

Tice Creek Fitness Center is having first annual Camp Rossmoor August 21 - 25. Elliot Barenbaum is seeking volunteers to lead "Nature Walk" sessions.

Concern was raised over limited number of Trekker hikes listed on the Club calendar. A number of normally active hiker leaders have injuries contributing to the problem. Lori Wong suggested that Scramblers and Ramblers step up and volunteer to lead some Trekker hikes in the interim.

Elliot suggested adding a 10 minute stretch segment to each hike and would like to hear from members interested in hosting more Safaris - both short, local trips and longer international ones. "Ramblers Walking Holidays" was suggested as a possible resource.
